Senior Care Program
Choctaw General Hospital of Butler, Alabama has recently been approved to provide a Senior Care Intensive Outpatient (IOP) for our area. This is the first such program to be provided for Choctaw County.
The Senior Care IOP is located in the new 25-bed Choctaw General Hospital on Vanity Fair Lane in the South end of the hospital building. It is an outpatient group therapy program designed to meet the needs of older individuals experiencing significant changes in their sense of well-being, especially such conditions as depression, chronic anxiety or grief.
Lunch is provided and transporation is available. The program is available to individuals who are 55 years of age, or older, and who are able to participate in group therapy activities. A physician's referral is not required - you may refer yourself or someone else. Free evaluations are conducted by a Registered Nurse in your home.
The services available through Choctaw General Hospital's Senior Care include:
- assessment and ongoing evaluation
- education, group and individual therapy
- family counseling
- medication management
- lunch and transporation
The program goals are to provide a source of interaction with others experiencing similar problems, assist participants in coping with recent changes in their life, and increase their self-awareness to help mitigate their symptoms.
